Anyone have any experience of using these MERU mounts for iPads? http://meru.org.uk/shop/flexzi-3/

Child needs it mounted to buggy and previously used Bamboo mount, but there was too much vibration as he has a lot of involuntary movement.

Hello Rolf,

sorry for my delay in replying

Hope this helps

Although ipads are lightweight there are still issues with use? Which will determine the strength of the mounting systems needed with regards to the strength of the frame clamp fixing point onto the chair structure, the stability of the support arm to the ipad and then the connection point flexibility from the support arm to ipad all have limitations.

In my experience I would advise that if the chair is going to be used on cobles and rough terrain I would steer away from any friction arm mountings as the vibration through the chair would certainly alter the ipad working position.

Examples are,

Manfrotto heavy duty flexible arm.

manfrotto 244 friction arm.

My personal preference would be to go for a mounting system such as Daessy which at Barnsley we do use the most, although there are other good mounting solution system providers such as Smile rehab Ltd.

I cannot give you an exact Daessy parts list as I do not have any chair details but I would use

A frame clamp of size ? if the chair is tilting? Ensure that the support frame clamp system is connected onto the tilting section Rop/rfcr this is a removable frame clamp adaptor that enters into the frame clamp socket and locks.

22mm diameter stainless steel tube for the vertical length?

Tc90 90 degree tube connector to connect vertical to horizontal tubes, other elbows can be purchased that fold to the side of chair.

22mm Diameter horizontal tube Length?

Daessy Mini MUSB quick release base, to connect the ipad onto

for the I pad to connect onto the daessy horizontal tube Daessy DTCIPAD2 this has a Defender case by Otterbox and is adapted to attach onto any Daessy quick release base

Details for the parts can be obtained from Mounts and more ltd

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Subject: iPads on wheelchair mounts

Dear all,

We are looking for any experience with iPads mounted on wheelchairs, in particular if there are any issues with durability in situations like driving on rough terrain (cobble stones...). Any information or pointers with regards to mounting systems, access, etc. much appreciated. Many thanks!

Have a good weekend.
