The UKCRN registered Clinical Trials and Evaluation Unit in the School of Clinical Sciences at the University of Bristol invites applications for a Research Methods Internship funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). This two month summer internship is based on Bristol and will start at the beginning of July 2014.
The internship will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to learn about the role of a statistician within a clinical trials unit, and to gain experience of working with real-life datasets from randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and cohort studies to conduct statistical analyses. The intern will develop skills in the use of statistical packages to manipulate datasets and apply statistical methods to analyse the data. The intern will be supported by a team of experienced statisticians working in the unit. This work will build upon an ongoing research project that is currently being undertaken.
The successful candidate will be a home or EU undergraduate student in Mathematics, Statistics, or another subject with quantitative skills and familiarity with statistical ideas at a UK university with an interest in Medical Statistics. Undergraduates in the penultimate year of their degree may apply.
Remuneration: £3,500
