Dear all,
Derek Yalden's and Umberto Albarella's book The history of British birds (2009) only mention two finds of white stork from the Saxon and Medieval periods (London and Oxford). I have a further seven finds from Medieval Oxford, from three different sites. Is this a sign that Oxford had an excellent stork habitat, or have other Medieval finds of white stork just gone under the radar and its presence was more widespread than is believed? What other stork records are there in the UK?
With thanks,
Lena
