TORG are pleased to announce this week's Wednesday lunchtime seminar:
THE SYNERGIES AND CONFLICTS BETWEEN AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE
Ed Foster, Team Manager, Environment and Safety, Newcastle City Council
About the seminar:
Poor air quality and the effects of climate change are two of the key environmental issues that are affecting cities in the UK. How are the two agendas delivered and do they work together or conflict in terms of taking action to deal with these issues?
Ed Foster, an environmental health officer will look at the synergies and conflicts between these two agendas when dealing with them on a local scale
About the presenter:
Ed Foster has been qualified as an Environmental Health Officer for 25 years. He is currently employed by Newcastle City Council as a Team Manager in the Public Safety and Regulation Team in the Public Health and Environmental Protection department. Ed has worked for the past 19 years as an air quality and acoustic specialist and has been involved in carrying out air quality assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments for Newcastle City Council. He is chair of the Tyne and Wear Air Quality group and has worked in partnership with the other Tyne and Wear Local Authorities and Local Transport Plan on an Air Quality strategy for the Region.
He is a keen cyclist and enjoys cycling and exploring the byways and highways of Northumberland. However, he is not so good at using sustainable transport for travelling to work. He lives in Newcastle and very much cares for the environment in which he seeks to raise his family.
