I guess so. Do a John Donne and be photographed in it, writing poems. I was
constrained by having a grave already, with my dad in it, keeping it cold.
And I wasnt together enough to really argue with anything, beyond trying to
force the price down! So they put her in a box and drove it around a bit But
since then there have been all kinds of fancy diy things. I have requested
that i be burned and my ashes put in a rocket and fired south westwards from
Horse Point, Scilly; but that's partly because I like the idea of my best
friend feeling compelled to do my bidding even when he knows I won't know. I
think you can be buried in just about anything.
Standardisation to some degree is enforced to facilitate handling -- when
they buried Sumner, they put him on wheels; and memorials have to conform to
the general concensus on what looks nice - have a look at suburban gardens
and be afraid
