Confident, competent and creative interpretive planning foundations

Even the simplest interpretive media can benefit from more insightful
interpretive planning. Using a range of fast and effective tools and
activities, this workshop is for new AHI members or those with little
or no experience of interpretive planning who want to build or develop
a solid foundation for providing better visitor experiences.



The course includes elements of group working, practical and
fieldwork; please bring appropriate footwear and clothing for working
outdoors.



The workshop is expected to run from 10.00am - 4.00pm, with a 45
minute break for lunch.



The workshop will be led by Nigel McDonald MA, MAHI of
nononsense-interpretation Ltd.  Nigel has 16 years interpretation
experience working with local authorities, conservation bodies,
museums and visitor attractions.  Specialising in planning and
providing media for the outdoors, especially for families, he has
produced plans, print, panels, walks and real and virtual tours for
countryside sites, visitor centres and nature reserves. He has been a
member of the AHI for over 12 years.  Nigel pioneered geocaching as an
interpreted activity and won an AHI Interpret Britain Award for his
Secrets in the Hills Geocaching Trails.

rich heritage provide a rewarding environment in which to explore
interpretation.  The zoo is close to the M5 (J2) and there is a
