Departmental Lectureship in Forced Migration

Grade 7: £29,837 - £36,661 per annum
The Departmental Lecturer in Forced Migration will be responsible to the Head of Department, Dr Nandini Gooptu, and work under the supervision of the MSc Refugee and Forced Migration Studies course director. The postholder will primarily provide sabbatical replacement cover for Professor Dawn Chatty, who will be on leave during the 2014/15 academic year. The Lecturer will provide teaching and supervision in the MSc course in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies, as well as carry out research in this field. The post is full-time, to start on 1 September 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter, and tenable for one year.
Applicants should have: a doctorate in the social sciences with a focus on forced migration, completed or due to be submitted before the start of appointment; a strong knowledge of qualitative methods relevant to forced migration and the ability to lead the Research Methods course on the MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies; proven teaching ability and relevant academic experience; a research and publication record commensurate with stage of career; and the ability to present research findings effectively. The Departmental Lecturer will also have the ability to contribute effectively to the administrative work of the department and to work with colleagues as part of an interdisciplinary team.
