Medical Statistician of the EuroSarc trial (111323)
Grade 7: Salary in the range of £29,541 to £33,230 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Statistician to join the Cancer Statistical Support Team of the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (Director: Professor Doug Altman) in Oxford as the EuroSarc Trial statistician.
The post is based in the Botnar Research Centre, and will work with a focused EuroSarc team including Professor Bass Hassan and Professor Lucinda Billingham to deliver the statistical input for two Bayesian designed international early phase clinical trials in rare bone sarcoma and associated biomarker evaluation. The genomic, proteomic and imaging primary endpoints provide an excellent basis for education and development of skills in bioinformatics in Bayesian methodology and machine learning.
You will provide expert statistical advice within a multidisciplinary team, undertake statistical analysis, write reports and presentations and, contribute to methodological research.
You will have a good first degree and a postgraduate degree in statistics (or equivalent experience), direct experience of clinical trial study design, delivery and analysis, supported by a publication record, and good project management skills with the ability to plan and prioritise concurrent tasks. Specialist knowledge in early phase clinical trial design, including Bayesian trial design, as well as specific experience in clinical bioinformatics would be an advantage.
This post is located in a stimulating statistical and strong research environment with the possibility to pursue a concurrent PhD/ DPhil based on the expanding area of Bayesian design in clinical trials.
This is a fixed-term appointment until 30 November 2016 in the first instance.
