medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
This string has reminded me of a delightful manuscript illumination in a 12th-century copy of Augustine's City of God, which depicts the scriptorium in which the manuscript is being produced. It shows the chief scribe, Hildebert and his apprentice Everwinus. Hildebert has turned from his work to throw something at a mouse scurrying over his work table. Images can easily be found easily by googling Everwinus. If only he had had a cat!

One can imagine the ms. complaining, _Non sum ut qualis eram_, or, as Dr Pratt put it similarly in _The Wrong Box_, "I was not always as you see me now."
For the cinematically challenged, herewith a couple of images of Dr Pratt and staff in his surgery:

Is that not a murid in the damaged area?
