Hi,
Last week I set up a poll to see if anyone was interested in meeting up in central London to chat about Digital Preservation over a beer (or cocktail, or a cuppa) and found out that actually, lots of people were! Thanks to everyone who participated. The most popular date (11th Feb) sadly clashed with another meetup - http://londonopendrinks.org/ - (I wasn't aware until later - apologies for including that date) so I have gone for the second most popular.
Date - Tuesday 18th February 2014
Time - 6.30-7pm for start (people were split over the best start time, so I figured we could start at 6.30 but also welcome people later)
Venue - The Harrison, a pub south of Kings Cross in the Bloomsbury district of Central London who are happy to accommodate 25+ people talking about digital preservation! Map available here - http://harrisonbar.co.uk/page/contact-map
Hopefully, we will have a section of the pub set aside for us :)
This information is also available here - http://criticalsteph.wordpress.com/2014/01/31/drinkingaboutpreservation-first-meetup/
If you have any questions, my email address is in the sig at the bottom of this email, please contact me.
If you are interested and able to come along but didn't get to fill in the poll, please feel free to drop by.
If you were interested and filled in the poll, but can't make this date/time - sorry! If this meetup goes well and there is interest, there may be more Drinking About Preservation meetups in the future.
If you're outside London, there has been interest in running something similar in other places, again, if people are interested, More on this once we have seen how things go for this first meetup.
Thanks again, and I look forward to meeting some of list members on 18th Feb :)
Best wishes,
Steph
