The Air Force Research Lab at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico is seeking postdoctoral experimental physical chemists to conduct laboratory research using laser spectroscopy for development of satellite propulsion, thruster plume chemistry models, and other spacecraft technologies. Applicants must be US citizens with a background in laser spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, and possess a working knowledge of theoretical chemistry. We are looking to fill multiple slots in 2014, either through the National Research Council or contractor positions.
Prospective and recent PhD's interested in starting at AFRL in the second half of 2014 are encouraged to apply through the National Research Council. This is a one-year position with a starting salary of $74,000, with a second year possible upon mutual interest. Information about the application process, program stipend and benefits, and other policies can be found at sites.nationalacademies.org/PGA/RAP/index.htm. AFRL-specific program information can be found at bit.ly/1dg3uVk. Applications are reviewed quarterly, with start dates typically six months later, so we encourage interested applicants to contact us as soon as possible to discuss research topics and proposal ideas.
Postdocs interested in starting at AFRL immediately (or in the next few months) may be hired as contractors, with salary and benefits similar to those of the NRC. Please contact us for more details of that program.
Feel free to contact me at [log in to unmask] for any questions about our research, AFRL, Albuquerque, the NRC, contractor positions, or anything else.
Cheers,
Jaime
