Royal Museums Greenwich is currently working in partnership with the History and Philosophy of Science Department, Cambridge, to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Longitude Act in 2014. Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, 'The Board of Longitude 1714–1828: Science, Innovation and Empire in the Georgian World' is a five-year project with a range of public outcomes that explore how one of the greatest practical and intellectual challenges of navigation was solved (see www.rmg.co.uk/longitude).
The project is currently seeking a Public Engagement Officer, to be employed for 12 months at the National Maritime Museum.
