Overwhelming response to the call for presenters:
We are thrilled to report that there has been a massive response to the call for presenters for the Global Forum. We have received more than 130 proposals in all, many from individual presenters who look forward to sharing their ideas with others in a suitable panel or workshop setting, but also some full-fledged panel proposals which bring together speakers from different backgrounds and geographic locations. The proposals have flooded in from all regions of the world, from academics working in different disciplines (law, political science, sociology, etc) as well as from NGOs, legal practitioners, governments, UNHCR staff and individual experts.
While we now face the daunting task of selecting from these proposals who will be invited to present at the Global Forum, we are greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm with which people have responded to this opportunity to exchange views and share experiences on statelessness. It is clear that it is a common concern of a great many people around the world and we look forward, more than ever, to bringing everyone together in the Hague.
Please note that everyone who submitted a proposal can expect to be notified by 15 January 2014 as to whether they have been selected to present at the Global Forum.
