We're starting with monographs because we import a lot of RDA records for monographs now (from Coutts and BDS) and I'm not able to update them at the moment if they are not full level records. So that's the priority for us.

Thanks Natasha

That's interesting to hear how the increase is looking.

Our reason for tackling monographs first is that we felt a phased implementation was more manageable alongside keeping up with all our other work. As Jackie said in an earlier email, it's been a challenge to start implementing RDA alongside everything else that's happening.
So we will eventually treat all resources equally and catalogue then in RDA, but as monograph cataloguing is what we're most familiar with here, we thought we'd start there.

The increase in RDA records varies from library to library, but I'd say that there has been a relatively small increase to date, with an increasing number being added. I don't think that we'll ever get to the stage of being a complete RDA catalogue, as some of our libraries are not intending to implement RDA at all.

It's also interesting to note that many libraries are cataloguing in RDA for monographs, and leaving serials until a later date. Are many cataloguers in this forum only doing one format, or are they treating all as equal under RDA?

Natasha.
