Dear all,
Please see below for details of an event at Warwick University that may interest list members. All welcome. Refreshments provided. Many thanks.
Yesu Persaud Centre for Caribbean Studies
Professor Bill Schwarz
(Queen Mary, University of London)
"Ariel and Prospero: West Indians Listen to Britain"
Wednesday 12th February, 5.00-7.00pm
Humanities Building, Room H3.02
University of Warwick
Professor Schwarz will be speaking about the forthcoming second volume of his Memories of Empire trilogy, which focuses on the relationship between Britain and the Caribbean. The first volume in the trilogy, which as a whole explores white English society as it evolved during the time of the British Empire, was described by the TLS as "impressive in its reach" and "crammed with fascinating material, gleaned not only from political speeches and memoirs, but from pulp fiction".
