OCTRU Medical Statistician (111493)
Grade 7: £29,541 to £36,298 p.a. (1% pay award pending)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Medical Statistician to join the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) led by Professor Doug Altman and Professor Sallie Lamb and the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM) led by Professor Doug Altman in the University of Oxford. OCTRU provides input into the design, conduct and reporting in both early and later phase clinical trials in surgery, musculo-skeletal sciences, respiratory, gastroenterology, critical care and oncology.
You will contribute to the design, analysis and presentation of results of collaborative clinical research projects. This will involve learning to interact directly with researchers, helping to ensure the completion and delivery of projects within deadlines and contributing to maintaining the projects’ scientific quality and integrity.
You will have a postgraduate degree in statistics, be familiar with key aspects of study design and analysis, and aware of the latest statistical techniques. You will have substantial medical statistics experience, supported by a publication record. You will have good communication skills, the ability to grasp clinical research problems, and have project management skills. It would be desirable to have specialist knowledge in all aspects of running clinical trials, experience of teaching or formal training in medical statistics, and an understanding of research grants and contract processes.
This is a full-time post for 3 years in the first instance.
A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6: £26,264 - £31,331 p.a. 1% pay award pending) with commensurate reduction in responsibilities in the event that a suitable candidate cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.
