Applications are welcomed for students wishing to undertake a PhD in Statistics
at Newcastle University. Full funding is available for well-qualified
applicants. UK, EU and other overseas students are all encouraged to apply. The
first round of applications will be considered for funding on February 28th
2014.
Members of the Statistics section at Newcastle University are particularly
active in the fields of Bayesian inference, stochastic systems biology and
biostatistics. General applications from potential students interested in these
areas are welcome. Example projects include:
* Stochastic processes and inference in tree space
* Bayesian inference for Markov jump processes via moment closure
* Optimal design of time-course experiments in systems biology
* Dirichlet process emulators for stochastic computer models
* Dropouts in extended crossover trials
