Dear Gerard and all,
The empty object position in the QF example Gerard gives is probably not an instance of P-Stranding. Omission of the object under certain conditions is common in French in general (Grevisse has a nice summary). My work which does show evidence of P-Stranding has been for some but not all Atlantic Canada Acadian varieties. The original theoretical work appeared in 1990 in Probus in a joint article with Yves Roberge. I have written extensively on the actual borrowing process in these Acadian varieties in my 2000 book The Lexical Basis of Grammatical Borrowing and in a couple of book chapters. There is some discussion in my 2013 PADS volume Acadian French in Time and Space along with summaries of my data and arguments in Ian Roberts' 2006 Diachronic Syntax and Don Ringe & Joseph Eska's 2013 Historical Linguistics.
