Dear Friends:
November 29, 2013
1. The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition December 2013 Newsletter<http://www.epcc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/146-Dec-2013-RGB.pdf> is now online at: Link<http://www.epcc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/146-Dec-2013-RGB.pdf>.
2. The launch of EPC Europe <http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/11/euthanasia-prevention-coalition-europe.html> on November 13 in Brussels Belgium was a success and received good media coverage.
The great Euthanasia Debate<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/11/the-great-euthanasia-debate.html> in Brussels, between myself and leaders of the euthanasia lobby, was also a success. A euthanasia promoter admitting that there are problems with the Belgian euthanasia law<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/11/belgian-euthanasia-researcher-admits.html>, while the author of the Belgian euthanasia law said that the law was designed for people with disabilities<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/11/belgian-euthanasia-researcher-admits.html>. Euthanasia: we can live without it<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/11/euthanasia-we-can-live-without-it.html>.
3. The Bentley "spoon feeding" case<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/11/spoon-feeding-is-basic-care.html> in BC will be heard Dec 17 - 19. The EPC intervention application will be heard, first, on Dec. 17. This Bentley case asks the question: is spoon feeding medical treatment. If the BC court decides that spoon feeding is medical treatment then incompetent people will be more easily killed by dehydration.
4. The Carter decision, <http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2012/06/responding-to-disturbing-decision-by.html> that sought to legalize euthanasia in Canada that was overturned by the BC Court of Appeal<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/10/bc-court-of-appeal-upholds-protections.html>, has been appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada. EPC is arguing that the Supreme Court should not hear the Carter case.
EPC requires your financial support<http://www.epcc.ca/contact-us/donate/> to continue fighting these important legal cases.
5. It appears that the Quebec government will vote on Bill 52, the euthanasia bill, before Christmas. EPC will launch a new campaign to defeat Bill 52 soon. Euthanasia Prevention Coalition submission on the Quebec euthanasia bill<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/10/euthanasia-prevention-coalition_13.html>.
6. EPC is asking people to sign the Declaration of Hope <http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/01/declaration-of-hope.html> in response to the Quebec euthanasia bill.
7. The Pew research survey indicates that Americans oppose assisted suicide<http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.ca/2013/11/pew-research-survey-americans-are.html>.
