HI Peter,

Before we changed to the urilyzer 100 Pro (sterilab) we had the clinitek
status devices in place. We had the option of scanning the barcode with
the lot number information in activated, however entry of the expiry
date is manual therefore can be "fiddled" by the user. One of the
reasons for having this turned on was that our CPA inspectors identified
this as a requirement for meeting the POCT CPA standards.

In terms of quality control our users do this weekly, we use
quantimetrix dropper solution which is stable at room temp for one month
after opening. We keep stocks in the lab and distribute once a month.
We have a lockout imposed on our system so doing it is compulsory. We
believe weekly QC is important as it tests the integrity of the strips,
as they are not individually wrapped like many other POCT consumables it
is very easy for these to go off quickly if the top isn't replaced etc.
We have had a couple of incidents where we have picked this up as a
direct result of the quality control failing.

Thanks

Hi All

We send out a monthly in-house quality assurance sample which we spike.
We do not run IQC on our readers other than the ones based in the
laboratory which are used to test the in-house sample before
distribution. The product is an Alere dropper bottle. These lab readers
are also enrolled in a traditional EQA scheme to ensure quality of our
in-house sample.

We do not record lot numbers on any readers in the trust.

Hi Claire,
What QC do you use? This must be very expensive.

This may be the stupid question of the day. Does anyone using the
Clinitek device ,have the option switced on of entering strip lot
number/expiry dates before each test. And how often do you run QC.
