Dear All,
I have been chatting with Dell regarding our up coming hardware
purchase. They have said that while they are already offering us good
prices if GridPP T2 sites were to agree on a limited number of
configurations they could offer us all EVEN BETTER prices. Obviously
this is would not lock anybody in to buying from Dell as each purchasing
department has its own rules that must be obeyed. However, I thought it
worth asking if this was possible for all our potential mutual benefit.
If it isn't then that is fine. To start with I asked Adam and Simon to
come up with their basic specs. These were:
Storage 'brick'
---------------
1 x Server node
2 x 4-core CPUs
64GB RAM
2 x OS disks (SAS)
12 x 4TB data disks (NL SAS)
10Gb NIC (SFP+)
Remote management
2 x Expansion arrays
12 x 4TB (NL SAS)
Compute
-------
2 x 8-core CPUs
128GB RAM
2 x OS disks (SATA)
Remote management
What do others think?
Best,
david
