You can get a certain amount of free data from the BARB website at www.barb.co.uk - but the only individual programmes it gives data on are the top 30 each week on the 5 terrestrial channels plus 'other channels' lumped together, and the top 10 each week on a much longer list of channels. So you can find out that QI last week had an audience of 2.26 million - it was the 11th most popular programme on BBC2 that week. But (I think) the last main broadcast of Horizon was back in August (Monitor Me, 12 August, BBC2 9 pm), and it seems not to have made it into the top 30 on BBC2 that week (so it must have got fewer than the repeat of Dragon's Den that week, which got 1.01m, the main broadcast having topped the BBC2 list that week with 3.36m).

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Science comedy viewer/listener figures
Dear all-
I do a lot of science stand up comedy and need to write a report/speech justifying why it is an important and desirable method of disseminating scientific information.
I'm looking for a good source of statistics RE the popularity/viewing figures of comedy (e.g. Mock the Week), science (e.g. Horizon) and science comedy (e.g. QI, Dara's sci club etc) TV/radio shows. Any stats showing the popularity of science comedy shows relative to straight science shows would be even better! Any stats showing an increase in science comedy viewers or the proliferation of science comedy shows would also be great.
I thought someone on this list might have looked into this before and have some insights. I bow to your greater wisdom before I start ham-fistedly Googling ;)
Thanks!
Sam :)
