Dear all,
The second sitting of the experimental debating society, the Rational Parliament, will be on 26 November in London. Our topic is shale gas and fracking, and our novelty is a great big, 100-person debate where everyone gets to speak and scientists are in the room. The aim is to balance values and views with evidence and research. The project was seed funded by Simon Singh's Good Thinking Society.
Here's a short video about how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMB9gWlccDA
Everyone is welcome. We'll have scientists, policy types, interested people, an MP, civil servants and campaigners. If you're a geologist, engineer or energy policy researcher with an interest in shale gas and fracking, please come along to inject some evidence into this political debate. If you know others who might be interested, please forward this on to them.
Tickets are on sale now! https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/event/8916267797
Thanks,
Adam Smith
Clerk to the Rational Parliament
