As part of a larger Arts Council England funded project, Hampshire County Council, the National Motor Museum, Southampton City Council and Winchester City Council are working in partnership to explore how viral marketing might be used to raise the profile of museums in Hampshire.
The partnership is now looking for an external partner to work with the project team to help develop an integrated digital marketing strategy which identifies areas where the partners might work more effectively together and opportunities to try new digital approaches to market the museum offer in Hampshire.
The work needs to be completed by mid December to inform activities to be undertaken in the first quarter of 2014. Deliverables expected from this work are as follows:
· a facilitated workshop that:
o explores the key characteristics of a viral marketing campaign with examples relevant to the culture sector
o provides an opportunity for staff to put forward ideas to be included in the final plan of activities
· a report that:
o presents ideas of how the partners might work more effectively together to market the local museums offer using digital channels
o includes proposals for digital marketing campaigns that have the potential to go viral for:
§ Soldiers' Journey exhibition and the new Hampshire's Big theme website (www.bigtheme.org.uk/1914<http://www.bigtheme.org.uk/1914>)
§ Lego Lost World Zoo exhibition
§ the local museum offer
o includes suggestions for metrics that could be use to evaluate the success or otherwise of planned activities
· a costed plan of activities the partners could undertake in the first quarter of 2014 that will allow evaluation to be undertaken to help understand what activities work most effectively
