RCN informed me that their agreement with EBSCO ends in Sept 2014. I’m not sure if that means that existing content will be pulled, or just that no new content will be added.

I've been watching this discussion with interest. Our position is that we don't currently have any sort of subscription: our only RCN provision is through ProQuest and CINAHL. It's been assumed that we'll also lose the access from CINAHL too, in which case I have the interesting task of trying to magic up money to pay for them: I have - rightly! - rather disgruntled colleagues at the moment.
Best wishes,
Sarah

We only found out here about this from our subscription agent who alerted us to the price increases, so we've been looking at all the options available including OVID.
I notice that there's mention of the RCN content no longer being on ProQuest and Cengage. Does this only apply to the current years - will some backfiles remain with these aggregators? Also, does anyone know their position with EBSCO?

James

I'm afraid in our case we aren't in a position to afford the enormous price rises your 'normalisation measures' have resulted in, there is no renewal, only cancellation from us. Nor did we find out via any official communications, I found out from library colleagues via Twitter.
Poor show RCN.

Susan

I would like to clarify a few points from the listserv discussions today as there is some misinformation with regard to some of our recent changes. We are reviewing all of our aggregator vendor arrangements and it is correct that RCN Publishing titles are no longer available through Proquest and CENgage Learning. Although we are also in the process of changing the worldwide sales and distribution of our journal titles this will not affect customers in the United Kingdom and we will continue to serve customers in the UK directly.
With regard to the changes in our pricing structure, RCN Publishing is happy to discuss with you any concerns you have regarding your renewal. We have taken every effort to reach out to each and every subscribing institution to advise of the recent changes to our platform and pricing and why these normalisation measures were necessary.
With best wishes,
Tony O'Rourke

I think someone needs to clarify as the BMJ told me that they are now 'in partnership' with the RCN and when I asked about the big deal encompassing their titles, for example, and whether the RCN titles would be included for 2014 they said no, but they hoped they would be in 2015 ...
I've now been in touch with our agent AND Ovid to establish what's going on!
Best
Louise

The BMJ have told us that they can't supply RCN content to UK customers.

> Yeah, well done, RCN Publishing. Look how you are alienating the UK and Ireland academic and healthcare libraries, who are cancelling in droves. Changing to Atypon and pulling your content out of ProQuest and other aggregators is bad enough, and now this massive price hike and stupid institutional licencing that doesn't even provide a proper archive.
