An important precursor is the Information show curated by Kynastan McShine
at MoMA in 1970.
In one of the works, "Service Area" by Vito Acconci, the artist setup a
post office box at MoMA where he had his mail sent to him, thus
infiltrating the museum institution with "user-generated" content.
