Dear colleagues
could you please pass this job offer to potential candidates. Thank you, Thorsten.
For our fundamental research activities involving core-level synchrotron spectroscopy, we are looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic
PhD Student
Interaction of atmospheric trace gases with ice surfaces on a molecular level
Your tasks
Characterise the hydrogen-bonding network at the ice surface in presence of dopants using near edge X-ray absorption fine structrure (NEXAFS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)
Derive the kinetics and thermodynamics of trace gas-ice interaction using classical coated wall flow tubes
Improve the existing instrumentation and experimental approaches
Presentation of the results at international conferences and publication in scientific journals
Your profile
Master degree with strong background in physics or physical chemistry
Experience in experimental work or with field instrumentation
Technical talent, analytical thinking and problem solving skills
Basic knowledge of programming and in spectroscopy is beneficial
Good communication skills in English are required
