openDemocracy.net's Cities in Conflict series (www.opendemocracy.net/cities-in-conflict) is currently seeking short article submissions on military urbanism, urban conflict and urban securitization.
We are currently taking open submissions, ideal for early career researchers and postgraduate students. Submissions may include articles (800-1500 words), op-ed, book reviews, photo-essays or film-pieces.
While submissions are currently open to all proposals relating to urban conflict, securitisation, militarization etc. we are currently particularly looking to commission articles on:
- The Charter Cities agenda and private cities
- Post-disaster cities
- The role of humanitarianism in urban areas
- the private security industry and the city
- Problematizing mapping and the search to "know" the spaces of the urban poor
Submission deadlines are rolling - next deadline for submission is the 10th November 2013.
To get in contact with a proposal, please email: tom.cowan[at]opendemocracy.net
Please do forward on to any interested parties.
