Faculty of Engineering and Computing, Coventry University
Senior Research Assistant
Salary Grade 7, Pt. 30: £30,426 per annum
Fixed Term until June 2016
Ref No: REQ002037
As a Senior Research Assistant you will contribute, under line management supervision and guidance, to research within the FLEXINET EU FP7 Factories of the Future project. The FLEXINET project is investigating issues around the configuration and agility of globally distributed collaborative production networks. Research at Coventry University will focus on the assessment, mitigation and management of risks implicit in such collaborations, building upon established research and application experience in previous related projects. For this reason an understanding of the theoretical basis for risk assessment, propagation and management is essential.
You will also support project partners in the EU in investigating the interactions between risk and economic analysis of innovation in business models for global production networks. Further, you will work with partners in the EU and US in embedding the results of research in a software delivery platform, to be developed by a UK based software partner. Familiarity or interest in manufacturing industry, collaborative enterprise networks and risk management is therefore also essential.
You will be an excellent communicator, a self-motivated individual, who is able to take initiative and work both unsupervised and to close direction, as you may be expected to travel within the EU and possibly further afield. Interest and enthusiasm for learning and working with the developing concepts of enterprise ecosystems and virtual organisations would be an advantage.
You will have a PhD or master’s degree in Operational Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related discipline. If you have quantitative modelling experience and interest in the field of optimisation or simulation, as well as good programming skills, you are particularly encouraged to apply.
