Hi.
This may be an odd posting in this forum but it might be of interest and also concrete case of curating media art in the older definition of the word curating.
For the past few years our organization, Electrohype, have had parts of Norman T. Whites well known artwork "The Helpless Robot" in storage. They are replicas of the two top sections of the "robot" made for the Electrohype biennale in Malmlö Konsthall 2004. Since then it has participated in three other European exhibitions.
The reason for this has been to save trans Atlantic transport costs since the parts are quite bulky and therefore expensive to ship since the cost is also related to volume even if the weight is low.
The third part, containing the electronics, I owned by The Agnes Etherington Art Centre in Canada. They own the complete original artwork and have generously allowed the use of the replica parts in several exhibitions in Europe and provided the third part that has it own crate after the 2004 exhibition in Malmö here in Sweden.
Now Electrohype is closing down all future activities and I'm looking for someone who can store the European parts for use in future exhibitions.
The optimal scenario would be that someone is planning an exhibition with this artwork and could have it shipped and also store it after the exhibition and then forward it for the next exhibition and so on.
The construction is very complex so it would be a shame to scrap it.
It comes in two crates that are of good quality.
Any takers?
Best regards.
