Hi Adam,

Thank you.

I agree. This bibliography option is proving harmful to the reputation of Aspire amongst our academics. We are working hard on citation style consistency and we'd like to turn this option off.

Totally support you on this one. Ranganathan principle 4 applies: "Save the time of the reader".

In return please can I ask for votes for switching off the bibliography function as it works so badly.

http://ideas.talisaspire.com/forums/189041-talis-aspire-ideas-2013/suggestions/3860352-give-the-option-to-switch-off-the-list-bibliograp

We have students marked on their bibliographies for some course work and if they use the Talis system they will, based on one of my lists, get 1/28! Inconsistent results, bits missing, authors wrong way round.

What students need is accurate references to add to their course work and this fails to deliver.

Really bad, yet cannot switch it off.

Oh dear

Subject: Idea - don't make users register for profiles when accessing digitisation

Hi all,

I've added a new idea to the Talis Ideas site, and I'm going to shamelessly promote it here.

<http://lncn.eu/ejky>

At the moment, if you "sign in" from a reading list item page to view a digitisation on Talis Aspire Digitised Content (TADC), you have to create a Reading List profile first.

Most users who sign in to view a digitisation are students, who have little to gain from creating a profile on Talis Aspire at this point - they just want access to the digitised content.

In our experience, ***any step which delays access to full text*** will deter users. We're already finding that this extra step in creating a TA profile at the point of accessing a digitisation is confusing students and leading to unnecessary support calls.

Sample quote: "Why do I need to give you my name just to access a chapter?".

I would like the profile creation to be skipped or deferred for users who are "only" signing in to view a digitisation.
