Traci,
We have been doing thin clients for about 5 years using a citrix wyse environment, but have also retained some fat clients. We are finally getting to something approaching a good set up with a win 7 virtual desktop and everything running from the terminal server.
We were initally using redirection to the clients for some multimedia, but found that this produced a very poor solution for flash video and we had problems with versions of ie on the clients. We still have some issues with the older set up but the newer ones are good.
ps we are also using Lorensbergs for pc booking and print management.
regards

Subject: Public PC booking/print management systems:thin client
Hi
As part of our review of public IT provision, we are looking to implement Wyse terminals in our libraries as a replacement for our current desktop PCs. Is anyone out there currently using or thinking about implementing this solution? Does anyone have any advice on whether this is a good way forward and what pitfalls we need to look out for?
This will also mean that we need to change the way in which we manage our public IT provision. Has anyone developed their own in-house PC booking and print management system? If so, are you willing to share your solution or provide guidance on how we can do this ourselves? Or, are you working with any suppliers that can provide a solution that works with thin client?
Any advice/suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks
Traci
