Speaker: Nancy Pontika, Repository Manager, Royal Holloway College, University of London.
Date: Tuesday 15th October 2013
Time: Talk starts at 6.30pm
Venue: The Square, 26 Tolmers Square, London, NW1 2PE

Nancy will talk about the importance of repositories.
Repositories are one of the main open access routes in the dissemination of scholarly communication. Their role had to be redefined after the RCUK Open Access Policy and the Finch Report, which supported gold open access and mentioned that repositories are suitable only for dissertations and grey literature. On the other hand, in the "Consultation on open access in the post-2014 Research Excellence Framework" the outputs that will count for the next REF must be included in an institutional repository. In this talk we will discuss the main updates regarding repositories and the library's role in this constantly changing environment.
This talk will be of particular value to anyone registered for CILIP Chartership and can contribute towards CPD requirements. We encourage you to blog or tweet about this event - do let us know if you blog it and tweet with #ciliplndn
