Cafe*
In conjunction with ASLIB's first conference,
AKISS<http://www.aslib.com/conferences/akiss/index.htm>,
SLA Europe are pleased to announce an evening with David Gurteen and Allan
Foster. The evening will see attendees engage in free flowing dialogue with
Allan and David about current issues affecting the Library, Knowledge and
Information sector.
The event is free for SLA Europe members and AKISS conference delegates
(please note, that additional registration via the below form is
necessary). Non-members and those not attending the conference will be
charged just £10.

*About our speakers:*
*Allan Foster* has had a professional career spanning 40 years which has
taken him across public library, polytechnic, university and special
library/information sectors. He took early retirement from his post as
Director of Information Services at Keele University in late 2005 where he
had responsibility for IT, libraries & media services since 1994. Earlier
posts included spells at the British Institute of Management, Sheffield &
Lancashire Polytechnics & Manchester Business School.
Since 2005 he has consulted to the information industry including working
with companies & public sector organisations in the UK, mainland Europe,
Asia & South America and he is a regular contributor to the Business
Information Review. He has a degree in social sciences and is a Fellow of
the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals.
*David Gurteen* is an independent Knowledge Management consultant, curator,
speaker, writer and facilitator. He regularly presents and runs workshops
on various aspects of knowledge management and social learning and is well
known for his Gurteen Knowledge Cafes that he runs regularly around the
world.
He is the founder of the Gurteen Knowledge Community- a global network of
21,000 people in over 160 countries whose purpose is to connect its members
with like-minded people, new ideas, and alternative ways of working.
Members receive his free monthly Knowledge-Letter that is now in its 13th
year.
David curates the Gurteen Knowledge website – a resource site that contains
book reviews, articles, people profiles, event calendars, inspirational
quotations, an integral blog and much more on subjects that include
knowledge management, informal learning, creativity and innovation.
In June 2010, David won the Ark Group’s lifetime* achievement award for
services to KM. **He is the editor of the book “Leading Issues in Social
Knowledge Management” that was published in May 2012 by Academic Publishing
International.*
