Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Apologies for cross-posting
We are organizing a special sessions on the “Geography of Innovation Linkages” as part of the proposed ‘Economic Geography’ sessions (co-organized with the Regional Studies Association) at the upcoming AAG meetings in Tampa, April 8-12, 2014.
Short description of the proposed track: Geography of Innovation Linkages
Papers in this track should focus on the geography of innovation linkages, and in particularly on the role that new dynamics and new actors play in shaping innovation and economic growth across geographical boundaries, and on the potential different linkages that are at work at the regional, national and global scale when it comes to innovation.
Geographically spread linkages may represent a new organizational form that is emerging beyond traditional networks that are mainly driven by Western MNCs. There seems to be a variety of new actors who are now engaged in innovation linkages at a global scale, including SMEs, standalone companies and firms coming from emerging economies. While this constitutes an important organizational change of how innovation activities are carried out at various spatial scales, only very few empirical studies are devoted to this topic. In order to gain a better understanding of these processes at work, we encourage empirical and theoretical contributions to this topic to enrich the discussion of global linkages for innovation.
If you are interested in participating in this specific track within the Economic Geography sessions, please send your abstract to [log in to unmask] before the 14th of October 2013. Registration for the conference must be completed via the AAG Annual Meeting online submission portal by the 23rd of October 2013 in order to take advantage of reduced rates.
Kind regards,
Heidi Wiig Aslesen, Gouya Harirchi and Dieter Kogler
