Invitation for contributions to a
Special Issue of Journal of Applied Statistics on
“Statistical Evaluation in Education”
The Journal of Applied Statistics is planning a Special Issue devoted to the field of measurement and modeling in education. Suitable topics include, but are not restricted to, the following: school evaluation, assessment of student performance, transition from school to university, prediction of student progression and completion, student satisfaction surveys, evaluation of career prospects, comparison of Universities, use of league tables, use of composite indicators, benchmarking.
For this Special Issue, the regular Editor will be joined by Guest Editors Massimo Attanasio and Vincenza Capursi, from the University of Palermo. They have great experience of research in this area and were Editors of the highly successful “Statistical Methods for the Evaluation of University Systems” published by Springer in 2011.
Manuscripts should describe original statistical research and contain a substantial data analysis. Case studies will be considered, but work of a mainly theoretical nature is not acceptable. The submission deadline is the end of January 2014, but early submission is encouraged. Once prepared, papers should be submitted using the Journal’s regular submission process through the ScholarOne Manuscripts website, but mentioning the Special Issue in the covering letter. Submission will be subject to the Journal’s usual refereeing process. It is hoped that the Special Issue will appear online at the end of 2014.
