Hi John,
Wikimedia is the charity behind Wikipedia and its sister projects such
as Wikimedia
Commons <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page>. The normal
definition of a Wikimedian is someone who edits on either Wikipedia or its
sister projects. In hindsight having an organisation name that is only one
letter different to our main brand name was a recipe for confusion, and yes
some of us can tell open source jokes, but telling jokes is not an
essential requirement for this particular role.
