Postdoc / Researcher: Two positions

The Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering is seeking a candidate for two Post Doctoral Research positions for a three-year post. The research will be working on a EU funded research project examining the response of transport networks to extreme weather events, called RAIN.
Job description
The successful candidates will become a member of the RAIN project team. Two positions are available. The first position will focus on modelling the economic impacts of disruptions to transport networks as a result of an extreme weather event. The second position will focus on the development of protocols for risk assessment of transportation infrastructure considering single mode failure risks and cascading events.
The successful candidates will also be expected to take on a number or administration duties in relation to the project.
Qualifications
The applicants should have:
• A PhD or equivalent in economics, transportation, risk analysis of infrastructure or other closely related fields
• Experience in managing research projects
• Excellent record of peer-reviewed scientific publication
• Willingness to travel for project meetings and conferences
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and to efficiently deliver results on time
• Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines
