Dear all,
The crowd funding campaign for Maya hip-hop artist MC Tz'utu WILL CLOSE ON SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2013. This fund raising - promoted by the Indigeneity in the Contemporary World project at Royal Holloway University of London (http://indigeneity.net/) - has gathered a lot of support but WE ARE STILL FAR BEHIND OUR TARGET. You can still do a lot for us by either making a donation or by helping us spread the word.
MC Tz'utu is a Guatemalan Maya performer and visual artist from the Atitlan region. He writes and sings his own songs in Maya Tzutuhil, which combine the aesthetics of ritual praying with the postmodern beats of hip-hop. Watch here a video message that he has posted on YouTube for this crowd funding effort: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVQRc-JHAY4
We have been trying to procure funds for him and an accompanying artist to perform live in Origins Festival of First Nations and our exhibition Ecocentrix: Indigenous Arts, Sustainable Acts. These funds need to cover their airfares, accommodation and equipment transport to London.
If you want to make a donation, you can visit our campaign webpage at: http://www.justgiving.com/Maya-Hiphop.
If you are in the UK, you can also donate by texting TZUT67 to 70070 and the amount you want to give (£2, £5 and £10 donations are accepted in this service).
Thank you very much to all those who have already donated and for all the help you may provide!!!
