Apologies for cross-posting. This was circulate on a Scottish Archives
mailing list.
Colleagues may be interested in this new job opportunity at the University
of Aberdeen. With apologies for cross-posting.
‘Capturing the Energy’ (CtE) is a cross-industry project established to
promote the wider recognition of the technical and cultural importance of
the offshore oil and gas industry, and to encourage the retention of
significant records for educational purposes. The Special Collections
Centre has established an Oil & Gas Archive to hold records collected as
part of the 'Capturing the Energy' programme and has a growing collection
of industry-related archive material spanning over 40 years.
The CtE team now requires a dynamic Development Officer to take the project
to the next level. The successful candidate will have excellent
interpersonal and communication skills and will liaise with industry
personnel, government bodies and professional organisations. They will
carry out archival surveying, records selection and cataloguing and draw up
strategies for the project, such as digital records archiving. Strong IT
skills will be essential and familiarity with CALM archival cataloguing
software an advantage. Knowledge of modern industrial history is desirable
as is familiarity with the oil and gas industry.
The post is funded by Oil & Gas UK (www.oilandgasuk.co.uk), and will be
offered for a period of 3 years. The salary will be at the appropriate
point on the Grade 6 scale (£30,424 - £36,298 per annum), with placement
according to qualifications and experience.
