Dear All,
Please see attached a programme for this year's Sackler Conference at
the V&A. With recent announcements about changes to the curriculum, a
recognition that British design is something to be nurtured and
championed, a rising number of young people needing work, and the growth
in the creative industries as an employment sector, we felt that it was
a good time to discuss what the future holds for design and what skills
young people need to succeed and shape the industry. We anticipate that
the conference will be of interest for people working in design
education.
Sackler Conference: Creating the Future
Friday 11 October 2013, 10:00-18.30
Cost: £10
The Sackler Conference for arts education is generously funded by the
Dr Mortimer and Theresa Sackler Foundation.
The V&A seeks to inspire children and young people as well as support
talent and leadership in the field of design. This conference will
examine two questions: 'what does the future of design look like?' and
'what skills and know-how do children and young people need to shape
it?' Presentations will be complemented with practical designer-led
workshops in the galleries.
