Do you want static or dynamic (ie interactive) visualisations? (I'm
assuming dynamic, but you never know).
Omeka might deal well with your bibliographic data, and now it has a
REST API (woo! More at
http://omeka.org/blog/2013/07/11/omeka-2-1-release-candidate-updated-berlin-theme-and-a-restful-api/)
you've got options beyond the plugins already available. Neatline
(http://neatline.org/), built on top of Omeka, gives you maps and
timelines but it's more of a hand-built experience than a 'chuck
everything at a code library and see what happens' thing. Viewshare is
somewhere inbetween. You could also look at the WorldCat API as a
source for records http://www.worldcat.org/affiliate/tools?atype=wcapi
I keep a vaguely up-to-date list of 'Resources for ‘Data Visualisation
for Analysis in Scholarly Research’ that might be useful
