Hi Sarah,
I'm a little confused. Do you mean that you wish to add them to Moodle for student access to readings used on reading lists etc? If so, Moodle access can be made secure, and the CLA Comprehensive Licence would allow you to use the e-pdf rather than scan a print article for the same purpose...
Apologies if I have completely missed the point of what you were referring to!
Best,
Stephanie

Hello Sarah-
Yes, we have had maybe 20 situations like this. Almost all are e-books. What we do is slap on a password in Adobe Acrobat and then we ftp them up to our Voyager webserver. The list of passwords is in an area on the library website accessible to students.
To be accessible over http:// they need to be on our public facing web server rather than a secure one. I see you are on Talis Prism. Am not familiar with this... have you your own servers? Access to the server? Maybe your IT department would give you a space on the university's web server and you could just use a suitable URL to that server in the record.
Here's an example. http://voyager.arts.ac.uk/vwebv/holdingsInfo?bibId=439553
We actually move the 856 from the bib to the holdings record so the 856 isn't visible in Staff View in our OPAC, but here it is: ‡u http://voyager.arts.ac.uk/digital/PDFs/Futurebook2010.pdf ‡y Click here to read this report.

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Journals by e-mail
Hi all,
Over the last couple of months, we have noticed that some of our titles have moved to e-mail, and we are being sent sometimes quite massive files with journal attached. We don't have the option of uploading to a secure server, which the publishers permit us to do, and library use of Moodle here at Bolton is in its infancy, so beyond printing the thing out we're a bit stuck. We have been doing just that (again, with permission from the publisher), but we are a little unimpressed at having to cover the cost of making something we have already paid for accessible for something that is available 'electronically'.
Is anyone else grappling with these kinds of issues?
Thanks.
Best wishes,
Sarah
