Dear all,

I thought that list members may be interested in the following opportunity at Centre of the Cell. Please visit http://www.jobs.qmul.ac.uk/4162 for full details, including how to apply.

Centre of the Cell is the first science education centre in the world to be located within medical research laboratories. The Centre is located in Whitechapel, Tower Hamlets, East London.

We are seeking a Project Coordinator for our Heritage Lottery Funded 'Young Roots' project, 'Sores, Spores and Sickly Bugs'. This project will allow young people aged 14 - 18 to explore the medical heritage of East London and how this has influenced the health of young East Londoners over time. Participants will undertake research using the archives of the Royal London Hospital Museum and develop and deliver a hands-on workshop for the young participants' peers, families, and the wider public during school holidays. Website content to be hosted by Centre of the Cell and the Royal London Hospital Museum will also be developed. The post holder will work closely with Centre of the Cell's Youth Forum and the Royal London Hospital Museum to deliver this project. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the project is delivered in time and on budget.

Suitable candidates will have experience of developing learning activities and resources and of working with young people aged 14 - 18. Thorough knowledge and understanding of work practices related to informal learning and outreach is essential. They will need to be enthusiastic in communicating with young people, and show excellent organizational skills to deliver a successful project. Experience of project management is also desirable.

The post is part time (2 days a week) for 12 months starting from September 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be in the range £24,973 - £25,653 pro rata inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave pro-rata, a defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Ms Katie Chambers at [log in to unmask] or on 020 7882 2565.

Details about Centre of the Cell can be found at www.centreofthecell.org

Best wishes,

Katie
