We are currently looking at a number of positions within the disability team (dyslexia tutors, mentors etc. ) and a query has been raised as to the nature of these posts - in particular should they be deemed as academic roles. We have a single pay spine and role grading is assigned following a HERA evaulation. However there are certain differentials to holiday entitlement etc. if you are an academic member of staff compared with professional services member of staff. I should point out that the disability team sit within student services and the tutors are not embedded in to a faculty.
Would others be willing to share if your dyslexia tutors (and indeed if you have any staff in the disability support team) are deemed to be academic staff and if this is reflected in salary/benefits?
