Westminster Diocesan Archives has two volunteer opportunities
available one day a week to run for approximately 8 weeks from the
beginning of August until late September. These would suit someone
who is looking to expand a CV while job hunting or studying, or who is
considering a career as an archivist.
The task will involve improving file level descriptions for the papers
of Cardinal Griffin. Suitable candidates will have: experience of
using Microsoft Word and Excel, the ability to work without close
supervision and a desire to gain experience of archive work. An
interest in 20th century British history, a basic knowledge of the
Catholic Church or some cataloguing experience would be an advantage
but are not absolutely necessary.
Volunteers will normally need to be available on a Monday or Tuesday
between 10am and 5pm. However, some flexibility may be possible. These
are unpaid positions and unfortunately, we are not able to reimburse
travel costs or other expenses.
To apply, please send a short email outlining your suitability for the
role, your availability and a CV to [log in to unmask] by 15
July 2013 . Also, please feel free to get in touch with any questions.
Many thanks,
Claire
