The Power of Sport for Social Change: The Olympics and its legacy for London - A Discussion -
Wednesday 24th July, 6 - 8.30pm, University of East London, Stratford Campus, Water Lane, London, E15 4LZ (nearest tube Stratford)

I am delighted to invite you to this exciting and important seminar which includes a keynote lecture from one of the leading authorities on sports and race Professor Ben Carrington of the University of Texas at Austin. As we approach the anniversary of the London Summer Olympic Games, Professor Carrington will provide a critical analysis of the idea that sport is an agent for social change and link this to the legacy the Olympics have left. The talk is followed by an expert panel discussion with leading figures from the world of sport and the community. Panel Members include: Connie Henry - former GB Triple Jumper & Track Academy Founder, The Connie Henry Track Academy young athlete, Anna Kessel - Guardian Sports Journalist, Piara Powar - FARE Director, David Neita - Lawyer/community advocate, Michelle Moore - Sports & Diversity Consultant and Professor Ben Carrington. There will be some special guests on the evening too, more information to follow. A question and answer session will take place with the audience followed by a drinks reception.
This is a free event and spaces are limited, so please rsvp [log in to unmask] to avoid disappointment. Once you receive email confirmation your space is confirmed.
