Post-Doctoral position in Experimental Physical Chemistry Institut des
Sciences Moléculaires d'Orsay - CNRS - Université Paris Sud - Orsay - France
Applications are invited for a CNRS funded post-doctoral position (1+1
year) at the Institut des Sciences Moléculaires d'Orsay (ISMO),
Université Paris Sud, Orsay, France.
The successful candidate will be involved in a broadly based
experimental research program focused on carbohydrate structure and
reactivity and the effect of the environment on carbohydrate
conformation. The programme, which is relevant to several scientific
fields including glycobiology/glycochemistry, material science and
bio-fuel production, will address carbohydrate interactions with
biological molecules and with reactive species (ions, radicals). Fully
operational laser-based experimental setups that will be used include
mass-selected gas phase double resonance and IRMPD spectroscopy and
matrix isolation spectroscopy. The post-doctoral fellow will also
participate to some instrumental developments and upgrades of the
setups. The research programme is conducted in close partnership with
collaborating experimental and theoretical chemistry groups, as well as
glycochemistry/glycobiology groups. The fellow will be able to take part
in these local and international (Bilbao - Spain; Oxford - UK; Irvine -
US; TokyoTech - Japan) collaborations.
It is expected that candidates will have proven experimental skills.
Previous experience and expertise in the fields of laser spectroscopy,
molecular beams, matrix isolation spectroscopy, quantum chemistry will
be welcome but not compulsory; an ability to adapt rapidly to new
experimental techniques and to develop or upgrade existing setups will
also be appreciated.
Applicants should have obtained their Ph.D. in a relevant subject area
by the starting date of the contract and not more than 2 years before.
The contract can start anytime between the 1st of October and the 1st of
December 2013.
Applications should be addressed to Dr. Pierre Carcabal
([log in to unmask]) before the 15th of September 2013 . They
should include a short cover letter where the applicant will expose his
experience and perspectives, a CV with a scientific production list, and
the contact data of at least two referees who will be willing to send a
letter to support the application.
Any further information on the position, the research group and the
research project can be obtained via email to Dr. Pierre Carcabal
([log in to unmask]).
