PhD BURSARIES (HOME/EU) IN THE LINCOLN SCHOOL OF MEDIA: September 2013
The School of Media at the University of Lincoln has a lively and expanding research culture and is looking for proposals for fully funded Bursaries in areas related to its key research themes as follows:
MEDIA ECOLOGIES
Exploration of post-representational, speculative approaches to the question of how we might move beyond relatively static and compartmentalizing models of media analysis. Current and recent work here has focused on topics including concepts of noise and fabulation in relation to affective and sense-making practices; the culture and politics of ‘the Cloud’; new hacktivist practices; and rethinking visuality in relation to emergent forms of media ecological power.
FILM AND TELEVISION
In particular transnational cinemas; representation of the past(s) on screen; media histories and documentary studies.
EUROPEAN CULTURAL STUDIES
e.g. post-socialist transformations; feminist approaches to media and culture.
There is scope for proposals that bring theory and practice into creative encounter, In addition, there will be potential for discussion and collaborative projects of various kinds with LSM researchers in tandem with the College of Art’s Twenty-First Century Research Group.
DEADLINE: 5 August 2013
