Dear all,
following on from this mornings discussion about the use of 3D for documentation of museum galleries,
I would like to establish the current use of 3D for object documentation in museums and memory institutions & User requirements for 3D images for analysis and research use.
I am aware that MA has recently sent out the 'Mobile Survey' and we have contributed to that.
I would be very interested in what you, from the Museums Computer Group, have to say about it, independent whether you already use 3D or not. What do you personally think is the future of 3D (object) documentation? [this part follows pretty late in the survey and please skip some of the digitization questions if it is not of interest]
The survey is here, https://opinio.ucl.ac.uk/s?s=23508 , more details below.
Thank you very much in advance. I will be reporting on the results later this year.
Mona

The survey is part of my ongoing PhD: Development of a best practice for 3D imaging in museum documentation and cultural heritage.
Scope of this survey is to find out about current uptake of 3D imaging and to establish a set of requirements for 3D images to make them fit-for-purpose for the workflow in museums, memory institutions and cultural heritage.
I would be delighted to hear what your think are barriers in the uptake of 3D , but also where you see future developments.
There will be 25 questions and it should take ca 35 minutes to answer them. Please skip some of the tables if you think it is too long. But if you are using 3D actively in your research, I would be very interested in every aspect of your work.
This is the link to the survey: https://opinio.ucl.ac.uk/s?s=23508
Please feel free to forward this invitation to your colleagues or students who are interested in 3D digital documentation. I am also very interested in the point of view of people who did not work with 3D yet.
Thank you very much in advance for your time and contribution. You will greatly contribute to my PhD work and I hope to work with you in future.
Kind regards
Mona Hess
